TPA take on the Birmingham Sleepout for the Railway Children Charity

21 Apr
The team here at TPA spent a night on the floor of Birmingham Railway Station in an effort to raise money for the Railway Children charity.

Despite recently heading into Spring, there is still a winter chill in the air with temperatures dropping to as low as -1 in the early hours of Friday 1st April. However, some members of the TPA team woke up on the floor of Birmingham Railway Station, after leaving their luxuries at home and wrapping up in their sleeping bags to raise vital funds for the Railway Children Charity.

The Railway Children are a charity fighting for street children. Their key belief is that no child should ever have to sleep on the streets and it is their mission to make that reality. They understand that children may end up on the street for any number of reasons and they always aim to reach those children first.

We caught up with managing director David Walkden to find out a little bit more about why they wanted to get involved in this fantastic initiative:

“As a parent, the thought of my kids being in the position where they are homeless with nobody looking out for them is unimaginable. Sleeping out in the cold for one night to make a small contribution to a charity that will give these kids a chance in life is the least I can do” – David Walkden, Managing Director TPA

Collectively, Kirsten Adams, David Walkden, Daniel Briggs, Oliver Dennis, Andrew Dobson and Tim Marsden have raised just under £2,500 with the event overall raising £123,000 so far. If you haven’t donated yet and want to, don’t worry there is still time to donate via the TPA team fundraising page: https://railwaychildren.enthuse.com/pf/tpa.

Special thanks goes to the following businesses for their sizeable donations to the team:

  • Bowring Transport
  • Johnson Bros Tours
  • Castle Carpets Shirebrook
  • Roe Developments
  • Jug and Glass Langwith
  • Thorpe Contractors
  • Compact Lifting Services
