TPA panels help Network Plus play the field

Portable roadways from TPA help Network Plus install a new gas main on playing fields.

Utility and infrastructure services supplier Network Plus selected to use portable roadways from specialist access solutions supplier TPA for the first time because they were more practical and cost effective than others.

And now, following the recommendation from RWB Utilities (service providers for the Cadent gas network) they would “most definitely” use TPA Portable Roadways again.

Network Plus specified TPA’s heavy-duty aluminium Trax panels to access a remote site on Clifton playing fields in Nottinghamshire where a new 450mm gas main was being directionally drilled and a 15” above-ground river crossing of Fairham Brook required removal.

The 3m wide panels were used singly and side-by-side to carry plant up to 20 tonnes along a 250m footpath road and a 30m³ triangular turning circle to the west of the site, while the remainder of the playing fields were able to still be used by the public during the 12-week project which completed on September 15^th.

Installation had to be between midnight and 0500 over four nights as the delivery truck had to use a “Tram only” access road or risk being stranded on site until the following night during TPA’s busiest period. Panel collection took an extra night as additional panels were supplied after the initial order.

Garreth Moss, service delivery manager for Network Plus, said: “We did consider the alternative, the stone hall road, but the track matting was more amenable. The panels caused less disruption and damage to the field and the cost was slightly cheaper.

“TPA provided good site communication and advice regarding the panels’ capabilities, and the service was fantastic, from site meetings, through installation to demobilisation. The site team were fantastic during the night installation.”

TPA business development manager Joe Cooper added: “Network Plus had other quotes and options but chose TPA due to our hands-on approach, and it has been mentioned several times throughout the project that from initial contact, site survey, follow up calls/emails/meetings, all the way to delivery and aftercare, that we have been way above their expectations.”
