TPA wishes Story Plant a “Happy New track”!

22 Mar

Introduction

On a day when many were enjoying a quiet day at home, Track Access Matting Systems (TAMS) from TPA’s Rapid Rail Access division were helping the workforce at Story Plant replace a length of railway track in Falkirk.

The project

Two sets of TPA’s TAMS were used to help half a dozen RRVs (10-tonne tracked excavators) on and off the dig at Greenhill feeder station in Bonnybridge as part of the Greenhill Upper S&C (Switches and Crossings) and track renewal works over Christmas and New Year.

Challenge

Not only did contractor Story Plant have to contend with bad weather over the seven-day blockade of the Edinburgh to Glasgow line, they also turned out on New Years Day for clients Rail Systems Alliance Scotland and Babcock.

Solution

TPA’s TAMS helped to replace the double track in double quick time, with Story Plant, a regular user of the systems, having to move the TAMS, each with its four colour coded parts, several times during that period. However, the lower and upper-level ramp sections are typically fully installed and ready for use in less than 20 minutes.

Client comment

Story Plant operations manager Andy Cockburn said: “There are never any complaints with TPA products and service. We have a very good relationship with them, and although there are other suppliers with the same equipment, we see no reason to change this. TPA always supply what we ask for, when we ask for it.”
