Portable, temporary safety stairs that make access to the track from station platforms during rail works easier and safer for workers have been launched by the rail division of specialist access solutions supplier TPA.
The Safesmart platform steps are compatible with platform heights between 900mm and 1400mm. The steps are designed to be used in the same manner as with any typical staircase, enabling forward travel when ascending or descending, maintaining three points of contact at all times.
Manufactured to the requirements of BS EN 12811-1:2003, the highly portable platform access steps can be deployed or recovered in minutes by two personnel.
